After Android Oreo, Android Pie has been making news as of recent with its entry into the OS for Google Pixel devices. Android P was updated for the Google devices on Monday. Google made the very first announcement for the OS’s preview version during the month of March after which the search-engine giant demoed some of the features at the annual conference for I/O developer held in the month of May.
Users who have already signed up to receive the pre-released version of Android P shall receive the update by end of autumn through Android Beta Program. However, the same shall roll out only for the users of devices by Xiaomi, Sony Mobile, Oppo, HMD Global, OnePlus, Vivo and Essential. Google also said that they have been working to bring the updated OS for other partners as well. However, no additional details or dates were provided for the same.
Google generally names all its latest Android updates in an alphabetical order with a name that is of something sweet and sugary. Before Pie, it was Android Oreo and before that it was Nougat. The Nougat was preceded by Android Marshmallow and Android Lollipop. Users have been using names such as Pie, Android 9 or Android 9 Pie for the new update.
Android plays a dominant role when it comes to the operating system in different types of mobiles and gadgets in the entire planet which is known to power about 9 of 10 smartphones that are shipped on a global scale. This suggests that the new updates to the mobile devices with Android 9 are directed towards the global use of the features rather than being dedicated to a specific landmark.
The new Android is generally focused on improvement of the behind-the-scenes requirements that will effectively work on the Android phones to make them faster and save a good amount of battery life with no need to charge every now and then. Additionally, the OS houses some AI tools which will work silently in background that might suggest you apps as well as shortcuts while loading the online pages that provides you with accurate information without having to download the app or search through the website to look for the opening hours, assistance for reservation, etc.
The biggest update that can be seen in Android 9 Pie is its support for the notches. These are little cutouts present on phones that was first brought to the market by iPhoneX that was released by iOS device manufacturer Apple.
